The integraton by trade and FDI of emerging economies: The ASEAN example
The paper investigates the role of regionalization and regional identity in the endeavours of emerging economies to connect successfully to the global world economy. It addresses the question of whether the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), with its loose institutional integration framework, has contributed to the global integration of its very heterogenous members in the first decade of the 21st century – and, if so, what are the drivers behind this. The paper summarizes connecting theories, using a multidisciplinary approach, and uses descriptive statistical analysis to identify the achievements of the ASEAN-6 countries within global trade and foreign direct invesment (FDI) flows in the given time period. We suggest that ASEAN countries, with their efforts to initiate interconnecting regional organizations in Asia, most specifically the ASEAN+3 (APT) construction, did contribute to greater integratedness of member countries; and they have created a regional image with a common market and production base. Such achievements, however, can be in great part attributed to the micro-level activities of international and regional firms wishing to establish cross-border production networks in these countries

Transznacionális vállalatok és hálózataik: Szingapúri tanulságok úton az innováció-vezérelt gazdaság felé = Transnational corporations and their networks Lessons from Singapore on the road towards innovation-driven economy
(...) A transznacionális vállalatok hálĂłzatainak szerepĂ©t kutatva, bemutatjuk, Ă©rtĂ©keljĂĽk az elmĂşlt 15 Ă©vben a nemzetközi Ă©s hazai szakirodalomban az elemzĂ©sĂĽkre kialakult kereteket. Magyarországon a három elemzĂ©si keret (globális Ă©rtĂ©kláncok (GVC), globális termelĂ©si hálĂłzatok (GPN) Ă©s globális innováciĂłs hálĂłzatok (GIN) közĂĽl a globális Ă©rtĂ©klánc elemzĂ©si keretet alkalmazták eddig fĹ‘kĂ©nt a kutatĂłk, kvalitatĂv kutatásokkal hozzájárultak a leányvállalatok feljebblĂ©pĂ©sĂ©nek megismerĂ©sĂ©hez a magasabb hozzáadott Ă©rtĂ©kű termĂ©kek, termelĂ©si eljárások Ă©s funkciĂłk felĂ©, s ezzel a GVC elemzĂ©si keret pontosĂtásához. Az átfogĂł kĂ©p kialakĂtása Ă©rdekĂ©ben bevontuk a modellbe a beágyazĂłdásra hatĂł erĹ‘forrás alapĂş versenykĂ©pessĂ©gi tĂ©nyezĹ‘ket, a politika Ă©s kultĂşra szerepĂ©t, valamint a gazdaságpolitika Ă©s intĂ©zmĂ©nyrendszer releváns tĂ©nyezĹ‘it. A modellt a szingapĂşri elemzĂ©s Ă©s a magyarországi kvalitatĂv kutatás során teszteltĂĽk.
Az elmĂşlt 25 Ă©vet elemezve kerestĂĽk azokat a gazdaságpolitikai Ă©s intĂ©zmĂ©nyrendszeri okokat, amelyek SzingapĂşrt segĂthettĂ©k a bĂ©relĹ‘nyre alapulĂł kĂĽlföldi beruházások vonzásátĂłl az innováciĂł-vezĂ©relt gazdaság felĂ© vezetĹ‘ Ăşton. Ăšj szemlĂ©letben tekintettĂĽk át a nemzetgazdasági fejlesztĂ©si szempontok, Ăşgy, mint az oktatás Ă©s K+F politika, valamint a vállalati magatartás Ă©s iparági Ă©pĂtkezĂ©s kapcsolatait. BizonyĂtottuk, hogy az innováciĂł-vezĂ©relt gazdaságra áttĂ©rĂ©st a hosszĂş távĂş gazdasági stratĂ©giához illeszkedĹ‘, világszĂnvonalĂş oktatás, Ă©s a hatĂ©kony kutatás-fejlesztĂ©si intĂ©zmĂ©nyrendszer lĂ©trehozásával Ă©rtĂ©k el. KvantitatĂv Ă©s kvalitatĂv kutatással igazoltuk, hogy az állam által adott impulzus fenti funkcionális terĂĽleteken, impozáns eredmĂ©nyeket hozott a TNC leányvállalatok Ă©s beszállĂtĂłik magas hozzáadott Ă©rtĂ©kű tevĂ©kenysĂ©gekre feljebblĂ©pĂ©sĂ©ben.
